The Pagosa Springs Arts Council Vision Statement

The Pagosa Springs Arts Council is an organization of members that is a proponent of artists and the art they create. Through this association of people and talents, it is our vision to actively support the diversity of local arts, art forms and artists. Performance, exhibition, education and access to everyone are all important elements of the PSAC vision. The PSAC enthusiastically helps in coordinating and organizing events, performances, workshops, exhibits, arts camps, school programs, competitions and other artistic endeavors.While a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we run the Arts Council like a business, committing time and resources to activities that aid in funding our operations. This does not preclude our involvement in altruistic, educational or philanthropic activities. Our Divisions programs serve as a potential incubator for future self-sufficient ventures. Standing Committees are well coordinated through an active PSAC Board of Directors liaison program focused on ensuring a network of communication throughout the Arts Council organization and membership.A growing membership and valuable member benefits keep the Arts Council visible and involvement desirable in the greater Pagosa Springs community. By using a variety of publicity opportunities such as member emails, PSAC website, weekly newspaper columns, local radio and magazine coverage, and other venues, the PSAC will continue to inform and welcome the public into the arts community and provide the artist community access to reach out to the public through these public information venues.The Arts Council will continue to enhance the venues for artists to display and perform their talents. The PSAC Town Park Gallery and Gift Shop serves as the heart of the visual arts display spaces in the community. As a proponent of arts in this community, we continue to encourage a wide spectrum of arts activities, events and venues that draw all citizens and visitors into the arts.The PSAC recognizes the scenic, cultural and historical beauty of the Pagosa Springs area and our potential to become an art destination to travelers. Officially recognizing artistic contributions to the community and sharing the appreciation of our natural surroundings through the arts will become increasingly important to realizing our vision. New projects and initiatives will be undertaken that lead us toward this vision of arts as a predominant feature in the Pagosa Springs area lifestyle.
