ROBERTO GARCIA’S SCULPTURE

Roberto Garcia's O.J. Walker
Roberto was born in 1954, in Laredo, Texas. Since 1997 he has lived in Pagosa
Springs, Colorado with his wife and two children where he personally built
his second house and foundry. His education includes a BFA in Studio Fine
Art. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978. He then
attended the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture, Princeton,
NJ in 1979 for one year. From 1980 to 1984, he worked exclusively in the
art world as a freelance artist and art foundry assistant. In 1985, he built
his own foundry in Texas.
Presently he is a full time sculptor and painter. Roberto believes the best
of art comes from a person’s soul imagination. To him art is a discipline
and it takes much practice to be skilled. Most times he creates art for the
sake of art or to simply fulfill that creative desire that is unique in each
of us. Every piece is a step or lesson to create the next one. All work is
done by the artist, including all aspects of bronze casting.
Roberto is very inspired by the natural, quiet and private environment where
he lives--the mountains of Colorado. Here he has the classic four seasons offering
changes of color, open skies, wide landscapes and weather phenomena. You may
