ARTIST PROFILE - Heather Haupt Enos

artist statement
Growing up in a rural area, I explored my surroundings with hands and feet—running through orchards, tossing hay bales, and working in the garden. Later, at home, I would commit these feelings and memories to paper through sketches or writing.
As an adult, I continue to find joy in uncovering the beauty that surrounds me, and sharing it with others through art. I am particularly influenced by the simple, stunning images of the national parks produced as part of the WPA Federal Art Project, and the WPA’s noble idea that art can be appreciated by—and enrich the lives of—every American.

about the artist
Heather grew up on a small horse farm in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Through summers spent working on the farm, hiking in the Adirondack Mountains, and exploring national parks across the United States, her parents instilled in her a love and respect for nature and an appreciation of the intrinsic value of hard work. Ms. Enos is a graduate of Cornell University, where she found printmaking to be both an outlet for creativity and a pleasant diversion from studying for organic chemistry finals!
Though her ties to Finger Lakes remain strong, Heather has called Boulder home since 2004. An avid runner and Nordic skier, she considers herself incredibly fortunate to live in a place with so many trails beckoning to be explored! A member of the Boulder County Arts Alliance, she studies at the Art Students League in Denver. Her prints were selected as the logos for the Haystack Mountain Time Trials and the Niwot Criterium, the third- and seventh-largest cycling races in Colorado, respectively. Ms. Enos’s work was recently represented by independent, woman-owned Niwot Cycles in Niwot, Colorado. |
