ARTIST PROFILE - Alison Jeffs

Alison Jeffs

Alison Jeffs has two true passions in art, her imaginative and whimsical illustrations, and capturing the genuine beauty in life through realism. She mainly works in oil and watercolor but occasionally loves to experiment with other media such as woodcarving and sumi ink.

From childhood Alison has had a passion for art and decided to pursue art in college. She earned a BFA in Illustration from Brigham Young University in 2004.

After obtaining a Bachelors degree, Alison ventured out to Berkeley CA to begin life as a freelance artist. While in California she worked on a variety of projects. She did document illumination for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, editorial piece for Bay Area Alternative Press, painted masks for "One of a Kind" in Ghiridheli square, character development for children's books, and more.

After 3 years in the San Francisco Bay Area Alison ventured out to Colorado to gain a teaching certification through Western State College. She spent a year, 2007-2008, at Durango High School as an intern to complete her certification. Now residing in Farmington NM, she enjoys sharing her passion with high school teens in Shiprock. As a teacher, Alison is still dedicating as much time as possible to professional art. Very recently she finished the last of 42 paintings for a children's book.

With her new love for the landscapes of Colorado discovered during her stay in Durango, Alison is currently working on a series of watercolor Colorado mountain landscapes.
